Yucatan Movie Gallery

"YuToob"

Yutoob, the Yucatan Movie Gallery, gives you a visual snack of the Yucatan Peninsula. Just click on the video and it will start playing automatically. A great way to learn more about the peninsula!

Tulum and Siaan Kaan

This promotional clip gives you a great aereal view of Tulum's ruins. Will Tulum be just as peaceful as is presented ten years from now? Personally I doubt it, with the new airport they're going to build nearby.

Campeche

An old legend tells about how many years ago a beautiful woman from Campeche died at the hands of pirates who came from faraway lands. Before dying she swore that she would steal the heart of anyone foreign so that it may remain forever in Campeche.

What are they talking about?

Listen to two Maya women chatting in their native tongue. On the Yucatan Peninsula many inhabitants, especially the older generation, still speak their forefathers language. This is what Yucatec Maya really sounds like.

Calakmul biosphere

Another great Yucatan movie. Calakmul around 600 AD was one of the largest and most powerful Maya kingdoms, until their king was defeated in 695. Today it is the largest biosphere on the peninsula. This video shows some of the wildlife in the park.

Cancun

Turns out it's not easy to find good videos of Cancun without bars and nightlife involved. This is a nice slideshow with some pictures of Xcaret included. I like the music too.

Cancun Moon (Nacho Libre)

"Would you like to know the Secrets of the Maya? Just turn off the lights..."

Voices of Chichen Itza

For opera-lovers among you here's a fragment of Pavarotti's concert at Chichen Itza in 1997. Quality is so-so, but the event itself was certainly spectacular!
